About the client

TV4 is Sweden’s largest TV company with a 21% viewer share of 15 -64 years old. TV4play, the company’s digital offering, has around 2.5 million registered users.

The challenge

Since it was launched by TV4 in 2006, has been extremely popular with fans. However, over the years the service hadn’t kept up with technological advancements and changes in user behaviour. Although it still had relevant content, such as news, videos, blogs and live streaming of games, it wasn’t meeting the expectations of fans anymore. We were asked to help TV4 bring the service up to date and improve the experience of fans, three months before the World Cup started.

The solution

New Android and IOS apps were launched and the website was redesigned and built to accommodate a new content structure and improved services for fans. Fans can now personalise the content on, making it much easier to follow their favourite teams, players and competitions. The transition between app and website is now completely seamless, with many of the services available in each digital channel. With the transition in place the solution was rolled out in time for the World Cup.

How we did it

With such a short time frame we assembled a team of Daresayers and representatives from Footballskanalen that could take decisions and act quickly. First off we met fans, listened to their viewpoint and mapped how this could be interpreted into a digital service. We then compared this to the content available to TV4 and the business strategy of the company before designing a viable concept. Next, we built a series of prototypes that went through iterative testing until we got a big thumbs up from fans. After three months the new service was launched.
